Miguelángel Verde Garrido
Miguelángel Verde Garrido is a PhD candidate at the Graduate School of Global Politics of the Freie Universität Berlin, where he researches the political and economic dynamics of states, corporations and civil society regarding information and communications technologies.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy (2004) from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (Venezuela) and a Master's degree in Political Science and Political Philosophy (2009) from Kyoto University (Japan), where he researched and studied after being granted a scholarship by the Ministry of Education of Japan.

During his time in Berlin, he has worked as an associate researcher at OpenOil, an energy research/policy consultancy, and has cofounded the Berlin Forum on Global Politics (BFoGP), a non-profit organization that aims at promoting academic and public understanding of global politics.

His professional and academic interest is in clarifying the socio-political consequences of the vastly accelerated development of information and communications technologies in an era of globalization.
